Why We Need Fraud College Today

It is the return of the informed, prepared American investor. This new American investor cannot rely solely on the government. We must now rely on the principle of personal responsibility. Fraud College will help build a global "Neighborhood Watch" for the public.

Americans deserve to understand the power that comes from educating themselves. Historically, simply relying on government has not been the answer. Not when it comes to investing our money. Most of us believe in being subject to just governments. Our country was founded on principles of personal responsibility. Our focus when it comes to our money should be the same — personal responsibility.

The SEC has a big job and a little budget. On September 29, 2009, the SEC Inspector General criticized the SEC for failing to detect the Madoff Ponzi scheme for so many years. The report recommends that the SEC provide additional fraud detection training for its staff. In response, the SEC announced it will create some form of Fraud College to train staff to detect market abuses like Madoff.

We respect the SEC. But we as a community can't and shouldn't rely on any government agency alone to protect us from fraud risks that we should be able to detect. If we are all trained to spot fraud indicators, we can protect ourselves! Welcome to the People's Fraud College dedicated to anti-fraud education and awareness!
